There is somewhat of a divide and debate when it comes to the proper way to pronounce the word pecan. Some say puh-kahn, while others stay true to pee-can. Where do you fall on this hot topic debate? Many people say that the proper pronunciation of this word is based on the Mason-Dixon Line. However, there was a poll conducted by the National Pecan Shellers Association about this very question, and approximately 45% of Southerners claim to pronounce it as pee-can while almost 70% of people living in the Northeast say the same thing.
